 If you are reading this you're going to read about Joseph Smith and other people in a jail called Liberty Jail.  This was very interesting to me when I looked up facts. There's also awesome stories and I hope you like it!!!!

Liberty Jail

 Joseph Smith was in Liberty Jail for  four and a half months. In prison Joseph Smith was with other people. He was with Hyrum Smith, which was his brother. Lyman Wight, Alexander Mcrae, Caleb Baldwin and Sidney Rigdon were in jail with Joseph Smith. Sidney Rigdon was the guy that complained his way out of Liberty Jail. He left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and started a new church. It's called the Church of Christ. Because of Sydney's selfishness and because he left  Liberty Jail everybody was mad at him. Even Joseph Smith was seemed upset at him. 

People visited them in jail.  Their families, leaders, Brigham Young, and Heber C Kimbal visited them. Members also gave them clothes,  food,  pies and letters in a 2x10 window. While Hyrum Smith was in jail, his wife had a baby and the baby grew up and became a prophet. His name was Joseph F. Smith. He had a son named Joseph Fielding Smith and he dedicated Liberty Jail.  Liberty Jail  was 22 feet long and 22 feet wide on the outside. The inside was 14 ft by 14 ft and 6'2" tall.  

If you were wondering when Joseph Smith got to leave Liberty Jail, he was 33 years old that is not old at all!!!!   Did you know that after they used the jail for 23 years for prisoners they stopped using it as a jail? They made it an ice house. This was why  Joseph and the others were so sick.  Because they were freezing.  They also didn't have a lot of food like we do today. 

Did you know what food they ate? They ate left over food that people threw away in the smelly trash and their food was poisoned sometimes and they were blind for a couple of days because of the food. The food was stale too. SAD. Before they got out of Liberty Jail a mob tried to kill them. The leader said that Joseph Smith killed his brother. There was also a guy who gave them tools to break the walls and the owner and a cop found the hole, filled it up and took the tools   away. 

The walls were made out of beautiful stone masonry and inside there were woody oak logs.
