  The Mississippi River The Mississippi is river is toxic and dangerous to swim in.  It is the longest river in the USA and got its name from the smart Anishinable Indians.  People have used wooden keel boats to cross the river.  I always wanted to know how old the Mississippi river was.  The Mississippi river is so dirty because the agricultural runoff makes it brown and puts chemicals in it. The river is extremely dangerous to swim in because it is toxic. It is toxic because there are huge farms, and big planes come with nasty chemicals and drops the chemicals on it. It rains and washes it in the dirty Mississippi river and becomes toxic. It has huge waves so it could wash you out.
