The Mississippi River
The Mississippi is river is toxic and dangerous to swim in. It is the longest river in the USA and got its name from the smart Anishinable Indians. People have used wooden keel boats to cross the river. I always wanted to know how old the Mississippi river was.
The Mississippi river is so dirty because the agricultural runoff makes it brown and puts chemicals in it. The river is extremely dangerous to swim in because it is toxic. It is toxic because there are huge farms, and big planes come with nasty chemicals and drops the chemicals on it. It rains and washes it in the dirty Mississippi river and becomes toxic. It has huge waves so it could wash you out. There are dangerous venomous snakes like a cotton mouth, copper head, the coral snake and the big diamond snake.
The Mississippi river is called that because there was people long time ago that were called The Anishinable Indians. They called it mee-zee-see-bee which means huge river or father of huge waters. Finally the Mississippi river is 40 million years old.
The bottom floor of the Mississippi river has a thin layer of clay slit loam, sand and lime stone.!! The river is 2,348 miles long. It starts in Minnesota at lake Itasca and ends at the Gulf of Mexico. The pioneers crossed the Mississippi river with keel boats. A keel boat is a large flat freight boat used on rivers.
If you are right next to the Mississippi don’t think about touching the water because it is toxic. If you want to find dangerous animals, go look in the Mississippi.
